Your kitten will be picked up from our home on Willow Road in Warren Indiana. Below you can find information to help you prepare for the arrival of your new kitten.
Please schedule a vet check up within 72 hours (or three business days) of your pick up date. This is just a check up to ensure that you received a healthy kitten. No vaccines or deworming are needed at this time, just an external exam will due!
Your kitten will need booster vaccinations at 16 weeks of age. Your vet should administer a 3-way vaccine that includes Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Feline Calicivirus and Feline Panleukopenia. Your vet may also deworm the kitten again. This is a great time to discuss neutering/spaying your kitten and scheduling that appointment for the future.
It's a great idea to prepare a small room for your kitten to stay in for the first few nights. The room should include a litter box, food, water and a soft place to sleep. Laundry or bathrooms work great! This helps acclimate your kitten to new smells and sounds in its new home and also gives it a place to relax, eat, drink and use the bathroom.
We use Iam's "Healthy Kitten" kitten food. It can be found at most stores and is in a purple bag. You may also want to feed small amounts of the wet food of the same brand.
When kittens go home, they will be using Tidy Cat Clumping Litter. Other brands of clumping litter will also work as well.
Plan to purchase a variety of toys to help entertain and enrich your kitten's play time! Kittens love fuzzy balls, springs, sticks with feathers on the end and toys that contain catnip.
Kittens love climbing! Cat trees that can be placed by a window are great ideas!
Kittens need scratch pads to help relieve stress and sharpen their nails. Place scratch pads, or scratch towers near high-scratch areas (like the corner of furniture),
We know you have a choice who you choose as your breeder and we want to thank you and welcome you to our Ragdoll Family! Within the letter are tips and tricks for new kitten owners and general information about acclimating your new kitten to your home.
Inside the veterinarian booklet are your kitten's vaccination and deworming records as well as microchipping information. Kittens are vaccinated at 8 and 12 weeks to aid in the prevention of feline rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia (cat distemper). Kittens are also dewormed several times starting at 4 weeks and then every two weeks thereafter until pick up. Take this booklet to each veterinarian appointment.
Each kitten is microchipped and the information within the microchip can be personalized for the new owner.
Upon pick up, the purchaser and breeder with both sign and date the Bill of Sale and Health & Wellness Contract. One contract will stay with the breeder and another copy will go home with the purchaser.
A small sample of dry and wet kitten food will be sent home with your kitten.
A small sample of toys and treats will go home with your kitten.
Breeder's slips will only be sent home with those purchasing breeding rights. Breeder's slips will be sent via e-mail to those purchasing pet-quality kittens once proof of spay or neuter has been completed.
A 5 generation pedigree will be sent home with those kittens whose owners have purchased breeding rights.
